The Fun Placemats Story
A few years ago, before
we had our own kids, my wife and I went on a trip to visit our nieces
out in Colorado. I couldn't help but notice that when it came time for
my wife's sister to prepare something for the girls to eat, it seemed
like a never-ending battle to get them to the table. She was
constantly having to entertain the girls while she finished cooking
and got their food on plates. Even with food on the table, it was
equally challenging to keep them at the table long enough to actually
eat something. After all, kids are kids and the just want to play.
One night we went out to
eat at one of these "fast casual" places. Like many restaurants do
when they see you have kids with you, the hostess gave the girls
placemats with games on them and a small box of crayons. The girls
were more than happy to color away while we waited for our food, and
the placemats kept them entertained throughout the entire meal. What a
change from previous nights.
I thought to myself that
when we got back home, I would look to see if I could find some
disposable placemats like those to send out to the girls (and my
sister-in-law) that they could use at home. No such luck! After
scouring the internet I couldn't find anything for use at home, and so
the idea for Fun Placemats was born. |

As parents of two boys, we know how hard it is to keep children

little bit easier while bringing some entertainment and education to
